Create short URL - Fynlink Docs

Creating a short URL is the core functionality of our platform. Any lengthy links can be turned into manageable short links with our platform.

'Short URL' and 'short link' are the same!

We will be using the terms short URL and short link or simply link throughout the documentation. All of these represent the same.

How can I create a short URL?

Any user with a user role other than Read-only can create short URL.

Double-check the current active team. Any new link created will belong to this team. If you wish to create a new link for a different team, please change the team from the list!
Click on the + Short Link button (as pictured below) from the header menu. The header menu is present in every page of the web application, so you can create a short URl quickly from anywhere in our web application.
A new panel will be opened on the right side of the page. Paste in your lengthy link in the target box. This is a required field, a short URL cannot be generated without a target URL!
Provide a title if required.
Choose the short domain of your choice. By default, the default domain according to your team settings will be selected here by default. Provide custom short code or leave it blank. If you leave this part blank, a short code will be generated for you at the time of creation. Alternatively, you can click on the generate icon (as shown below) to preview the short code!
Select a suitable expiry date. Most short links do not need to work beyond a certain period of time.
If you are unsure about advanced options, it is safe to leave as it is. You can learn more about advanced options here.
Click Create button to create your short URL!

Alternatively, you can create a new short link from links page. Once you are on the links page, click on the Create Link button found in the top right corner, below the header menu.
This will open up the link creation panel, follow the instructions from above regarding creating short url from header menu to continue creating a new short URL.
